ENSCI’s partnership, through the Centre for Research in Design, and the manufacturer of office furniture, CLEN, gave rise to the creation of the Chair S’entendre - expérience sonore des espaces partagés [Chair of Hearing - the sound-experience of shared spaces.] The mastery of noise and the ambient noise of shared spaces has become an important factor in the health and wellbeing of people at work, but also in work performance and outcome levels. It is on this particular issue that an industrialist and a design school have come together to found a chair.

The Chair is held by Roland Cahen, sound designer, researcher-lecturer at ENSCI and member of the Centre for Research in Design.

[The phrase] ’To hear”, affirms the idea of both coming to an agreement and listening to one another. For ENSCI, this means for a true industrial co-creation.
